Hairstyle of the day

So I figured since I am a hairstylist and I have girls, I might as well share some of the different hair styles I come up with for them.
It's always fun to see what other people come up with don't you think?
Squeezing out a little gel on your comb makes it easier to get all of those little baby hairs in there. And it stays a little longer.
Allie's hair goes down to her chin in the front so we are constantly pushing it out of her eyes because she wants to pull out every barrette I put in there. So the only way to make it so she can see without giving her bangs is to do the little pony tail in front and then flip it through so she can't pull the rubber band out.

Allie is beauty and the beast all rolled up into one little girl. She can be so loving and then scratch your eyes out 5 seconds later!

A Husband's Interview

Interview w/Russ:

1.) What is your full name? Russ: Russell Allred with Ammon in between.

2.) How long have we been married? Russ: 12 and.....1/2 years. I thought this was multiple choice! This should be multiple choice so I don't get anything wrong!

3.) What is your dream job? (he's thinking.....still thinking....) Russ: Professional Golfer
Rena: I would be dissapointed if you didn't say that.

4.) What is your claim to fame? Russ: Claim to fame? I have no fame. Rena: Oh come on. Russ: Well I guess it would be that I have been struck by lightening. Rena: Ouch that is a painful claim to fame!

5.) What do you like to do? (He looks at me with big eyes) Rena: Besides that honey! Russ: I like to play with the kids.

6.) What is your biggest fear? Russ: I don't think a lot about my fears but if I had to choose one I guess it would be something happening to my kids or my wife.

7.) What animal describes you? Russ: Elk Rena: Why? Russ: 'Cause they like to eat all day long and like the mountains and like to be outside. Rena: How do you know they don't like to be inside? Have you ever seen one inside? Maybe they would like to be a couch potato. Russ: well, they never get close enough to show them the remote. Plus I think they would tear the place apart if they came inside.

8.) If you could choose any era to live in what would it be? Russ: What's and era? {side note: I had to explain to him the other day what a segway (sp?) was. He is not slow, just uninformed %)} Rena: (laughs) you know, like the 1960's or 1970's. Russ: That's a decade. Rena: Hun. Russ: okay okay, the 50's. Rena: Why? Russ: Leave it to Beaver, Father knows best. Rena: You like the Beav? Russ: No it's not about the shows it was the idea. Where traditional values were valued.

9.) What is a major goal for 2008? Russ: Hmmm. To move to a new job and settle down and put down our roots in our new area. Wherever that may be.

10.) What is your guiltiest pleasure? Russ: It's going to have something to do with food! (with big eyes) A bowl of salsa with cream cheese and guacamole, a side of extra sharp cheddar cheese, a bag of Doritos and a vanilla coke to wash it down.

11.) What do you love about me? Russ: Is that a trick question? Am I supposed to name one thing or go on and on....or? Rena: It doesn't have to be a list, just whatever,... whatever!
Russ: Well, you are a wonderful homemaker, all that homemaking stuff. And of course you are very pretty. Your not lazy. You attack your tasks with enthusiasm and energy. Obviously you know how to take care of your husband (winks) and you care about that.

Russ: Can I have some Ice cream now? Rena:Yes, your torture is over babe. Russ: Thanks! (laughs)
~
The End

You guys,
It was totally fun interviewing my husband.
It's good quality time.
So do it!
You will be surprised what they come up with.
It was interesting for me to see what he came up with on #11.
I didn't realize that he paid that much attention to whether or not I was lazy.

I miss Gabby

Gabby was my photographer. She moved to Austin TX. so instead of my wonderful friend taking such wonderful pictures, I was trying to get a half way decent picture of myself (yuck! I am not very photogenic). So I hung a sheet against the wall and changed my clothes, curled my hair, put on fake lashes, ( I hate how heavy they feel) set up the camera to the self timer and tried to smile my best smile. I had no idea what I was doing. Emma kept saying "mom, you dont have to look perfect!" Because I would look at the picture and say "ARGH! my hair is ugly in that one, or my smile looks funny in that one." She also said, "Just be who you are mom." So I took the wisdom of a 5 year old, ripped off those dang eye lashes, pulled my hair up, threw some jewlery around my neck and just smiled. It was the ONE!

Sometimes, I just try too hard and it is too much!! Thanks Emma for the great advice! I still wish Gabby were here to do all the hard work for me. Taking pictures is not the easiest thing in the world!

The picture is for the info page on my portfolio that is almost all the way done!! I need to do one more page while I watch Dancing with the Stars tonight, then I am finished creating it, I will just need to copy it and send it. I only have 10 days to get it there and sometimes the mail from FL to UT is very slow. So I might have to do the overnight thing. Ahhhhh!!! I cant believe I am almost done.

My husband's humor

Last night, Russell and I were looking at houses on the Internet in Nashville. I got up to get something to eat and Russ asked me if I was done on the computer and I said yes, but he said he wanted me to check out this one house before he shut it down.
So I came over to the computer and looked at the house and then checked my email and stuff then I went to shut down the computer.
So when I clicked on the x in the corner, All of a sudden, right in my face,
I saw a picture of my butt in a bikini.
But it wasn't just my butt in a bikini, it was an elongated stretched out picture of my butt in a bikini.
So immediately when I saw it, I busted up with laughter..., and then about five seconds later I was hysterically crying.
Let me explain..... About a year ago, I had Russ take some "before" pictures of me in a bikini because I was about to start Body for Life. ( a weight loss program ) I had up-loaded the pictures onto the computer and when he was looking through the pictures last night he saw them and decided to play a little joke on me.
The picture was stretched out to fit the screen, therefore making my butt look enormous!!
(if I were a brave soul, I would post the funny picture on here but I was quick to hit the delete button on those suckers.)
It was the kind of feeling I remember having when I was a teenager and my siblings would tease me about something in front of everyone and totally embarrass me and I would run into my room and slam the door and crawl into bed and cry until my mom would come into my room and tell me to stop crying and come join the party again.
I wasn't mad a Russell, in fact I found it to be a very funny joke. But when he saw me crying, he felt so bad. He kept telling me that he didn't put it on there to make me feel bad and that it was just a joke. I would laugh and cry at the same time and tell him it was okay, and that I wasn't mad.
I wouldn't let him look at the picture any more and I deleted them off the computer.
I was ashamed because I really haven't changed much since we took those pictures about a year ago. Now...., I don't think that I am "FAT", I am just "Pleasantly Plump" You know, a little soft around the edges...., a little squishy.
Okay, you get the idea!
Anyway, I could stand to lose 15 to 20 pounds.
I did not want to see those pictures. It was like a wake-up call. But a really funny wake-up call......that made me cry ;)
So I went into my room and crawled into bed in the dark and laid there crying for about an hour before Russell came in and said goodnight and apologized again.
(It felt really wierd to cry over something like that. I felt like I was 14 again.)
This morning he called me from work and told me that he should of told me last night not to feel bad about the pictures because he has only gotten fatter since we took the pictures!
Too bad we didn't take any before pictures of him!!

layouts

What the holy scrud??
My friend told me that when people changed their blog layouts, they lost all of their extra stuff. I said, na, I have done it a hundred times and never lost anything. So today I decided to change my layout and I totally lost everything.
I was peeved!!
So now I have wasted 2 hours trying to get everything right. At one point I thought I lost EVERYTHING, even my posts.
Phew!
What a pain.
There should be a class we all can go to, to learn about blogger eh?!!
So now I don't have time to post the funny joke Russell played on me last night that made me laugh so hard and cry like I haven't cried since I was 14.
I will post later about it.
You will die!

It's a Championship WIN!!

the marlins take it!!
The game started out rough because one of our players was M.I.A. The rumor was that he decided to play volleyball instead of come to the play-off game?!?!?
Coach called him and said get your behind here now!
The other team graciously waited 15 minutes to start the game so our player could come.
It turns out he was worth waiting for because the first time he got up to bat, he got a home run!
We were leading for the first couple of innings and then we fell behind. The coach is a gambler. He sent 2 boys to home plate where they ended up getting out!We were a little upset at that. By the end, we were tied 7 to 7 so we went another inning.
We got up to bat and we only scored one run because of another dumb decision by the coach. The other team got up to bat and got a runner on third, another batter struck out, then another, then we got a runner out at first.
We won by 1.
PHEW!!
It was really intense!

He played short stop. Lucky number 13
No home runs for Carter tonight but he played really well!

Little miss Em chill-axing.

My little Bear didn't feel so well. Poor guy. He is better this morning.

Allie Cakes.

Okay, now this was really intense for Russell. He could hardly stand it.

Yay!
We won!!
Carter is the blurry face right under the coaches left arm pit.

GOOD GAME!

The week so far.....

This week so far has been a lot better.
No nasty letters from anyone. (Thank Goodness!!)
Carter won his second play-off game on Monday so the Championship game is tonight. We are all excited!! I really hope he wins. He has hit 5 home runs this season. We were so excited when He hit one! It's like half way through the season, he woke up and started really playing well. Okay enough of my bragging.

I'll post tomorrow with more bragging if he wins. I am going to make sure my camera has batteries this time and try to get some good pics!

Weird Week

Do you ever feel like you are in the Twilight Zone? This whole week has been one episode after another.
Just odd stuff.
My 5 year old daughter, who knows better, cut her nice shirt that she was wearing today. Why you ask?....hmmm good question? She doesn't even know why she did it. Next thing I know it will be her long blond hair. I will just die. I warn her all the time to NEVER cut her hair. She is now grounded from scissors until further notice!!!!!!
Other things have just felt kind of weird and out of place. Kind of like the world is pitted against me and I seem to be the brunt of everything that goes wrong......I know wa wa wa, cry me a river!
I received a horrible letter from a friend. (I don't think she reads this blog) It contained everything I have said or done wrong (as far as her interpretation goes) to her in the the past year. I still don't know how to handle it. Any suggestions?
I should pray about it.
ARGH!
Why?
Why does crappy little stuff happen to us like that, that just festers and drives us nuts? Was it really necessary? Does it really help to tell someone word for word how horrible they are? 3/4Th's of what she said was false. I am guilty of helping her out in a very bad situation that she was in, that she now pits against me.
Oh well, I will get over it.
I guess.
I am reading a book called What Happy People Know by Dan Baker. It is really good. I recommend picking it up if you are looking for a happy read. I found it at the Library and I have renewed it several times because I am still not finished with it. I only get to read a couple pages a day.
here are a few tidbits of it:
Appreciation is the purest, strongest form of love. Research shows that it is physiologically impossible to be in a state of appreciation and a state of fear at the same time. Thus, appreciation is the antidote to fear.
Choice is the father of freedom and the voice of the heart. Having no choices, or options, feels like being in jail. It leads to depression, anxiety and the condition called learned helplessness.
Anyway, it is very eye opening and I am learning a lot about choosing how I want to live my life and taking control over it. Both Mentally and Physically.
I love that we get a fresh start at a new day. I also love that we get a new week. And I know that it is never too late to start something good!
Hopefully (fingers crossed) next week wont be so Twilight Zone-ish.
