Beautiful Utah

This is on the way to Tooele. We drove through Lehi and then up the mountain. So this is literally in the middle of nowhere. People live up here too. It is crazy. There is a whole community along the ridge of those mountains behind us. But nothing else for miles and miles. Russ and I were joking that it was probably a nudist colony! After living in a biggish city, I don't think I could live in the boonies. But really... I don't see the difference since I don't talk to any of my neighbors. Maybe it would be a good thing to be alone, so you could scream at your kids and no one could hear you!....just thinkin' out loud here..... hmmmm

In all of the 27 years that I lived in Utah. I had never been in Lehi or Tooele.

dATE nIGHTS

WE try to go on a date once a week, but it doesn't always happen that way. It usually turns out to be once a month. This is a picture of our last date night out. We were in Publix (a local grocery store) Russell gets so embarassed when I take pictures in public. I am not so sure he is keen on the kissing in public either. The look on his face says it all doesn't it?
Our idea of a date night is renting a dollar movie, getting some snacks and watching the movie in our van in a dark parking lot. There is nothing like watching a movie on a 6 inch screen in the comfort of the bucket seets of the van! But hey, we are together, we are out of the house, and there are no interruptions.!!
We are going to try it again tonight.

utah -drive-by-shooting

point and shoot. outside salt lake city. i was driving, and shooting, at the same time.
i didn't know if i was getting anything. i was pleased to see that i got the road!
that was my main goal.
i have no idea what this sign says! sometimes i think it says sears, and then if i really stare at it i think it says sid's...no say! i was trying to get the temple that was in view before that sign but the delay on my camera is somthin' else!

the capitol building. look at the haze. it was pretty much like that the whole time we were there. ahh, the nice fresh..cough..air..cough.cough...in the winter!

you can barely see the spires of the temple there.

there are mountains behind that capitol building but you can't see them through the smog.

utah really is a pretty place...just not at that moment.

valentines din din

This post is a little late, but my camera wasn't working, but I managed to get the pictures put on my computer.
We did a "couples valentine dinner" at my house valentines night.

This mirror is one of my side of the road finds. I Love bulk Day shopping!!

easter baskets for kids....but

Okay, so when I was growing up, we seemed to have a little more money around Easter time vs. Christmas time. So we always got a present of some sort in our Easter Basket. One year I got a tennis racket. Another, I got a walk man, (ya, you know it!!) So I always thought it would be nice to do gifts in my kids'...and Husband's baskets. But my Husband has a different idea, He says that it's not Christmas and we don't need to give gifts. I was curious what everyone else does. Do you just give candy or do you do a gift too? Or, do you do the Easter Bunny at all?

McEntire

Kiss me I'm Irish is true. I am a McEntire!
My Dad is really knowledgeable about our heritage and I thought it was time I found some stuff out for myself.

I have always been drawn to the beauty of the green rolling hills and small cottages!
Isn't it beautiful? It makes me want to just sit alone on the hill.

Mhac an t'Saoir Country

The Fanad Peninsula, County Donegal - a place of wild and rugged beauty. The earliest historical records show our people established here and elsewhere in Donegal, from Ballyshannon to Derry.
I am very fortunate to have Green eyes. I never had to worry about putting green on for St. Patricks Day! Although some people would say that it doesn't count, but I believe it does!
I have the fair skin, red hair and freckles that come from my Irish Ancestors.
Happy St. Patricks Day on the 17th
(Still waiting to get the pictures from Utah...soon, i hope)

"35"

February 10th was Russell's 35th Birthday! It was a Sunday. I made BBQ ribs, Mashed Potoates and Asparagus for dinner. The kids helped me decorate the walls with crepe paper. I found a paper that Russ had written when he was in 3rd grade. So I put that on the wall too.
It was written on Janurary 13th 1982. It says:
Green is the grass to play on.
Green is a pretty color which I like best.
Green is spinach and asparagus which is good.
Green is green apple sauce that is a little good.
Isnt that funny? On the back he wrote:
Russell A. Allred 3thr grade.

Happy 35th Birthday Honey!!
Oh my heck, He is so Handsome!! I think he gets cuter by the year!

Jarom was not in any kind of mood for a party so he promptly went to bed. Allie on the other hand was so in love with those mashed potatoes!! yummy!

Home Again

Whew!! We made it! That should say it all....4 airplane rides with 16 month old twins. Argh! Carter and Emma were no trouble. Of course the very last plane ride coming into Miami was the worst. (by the way...I will never fly into Miami again. that airport sucks rocks!) Allie was a handful to say the least on the plane. About an hour into the ride, I had lost all of my will to laugh it off. In fact I was pretty close to tears. Jarom actually fell asleep for the first half which then put him in a pretty decent mood. But Allie fought and fought and even punch me in the face a few times. So we land about 25 minutes late into Miami, we have a friend there waiting for a long time to pick us up. Then the baggage was about 45 minutes late getting on the carousel. So we get our baggage and we are missing 2 car seats and 2 strollers. hmmm...You would think they would come out with all of the other baggage, but no one seems to know where they are.?.?.
Go figure...I mean we are talking about the worst laid out airport in the U. S. of A. So after we wait for 2 hours after we land, we are finally on our way with 7 bags, 2 car seats, 2 strollers, 4 kids and two very frustrated parents, oh, and a very patient friend.
Coming home is always an experience. We have been gone for 12 days. I mean, is that really enough time to forget what road you live on? The house looked weird, the van looked weird, has the interior always been gray? But Aaahhh, my bed sure felt nice. I zonked, as did everyone else. Russell called me on his way to Orlando this morning at 8:30 am. the phone woke me up, Carter was still asleep, he should have left over an hour before, Emma was still asleep and the twins were quietly playing in their cribs. So after I realize what is going on and try to rub the sleep out of my eyes, it is total mayhem..."Carter wake up! Emma get in the tub! Carter make your lunch! Hurry and get dressed! Your late! Lets go! Lets go!" I threw the twins in the tub with Emma, scrub scrub scrub. Out and dressed. Hair done. Twins diapered and dressed. (It was nice to throw shorts and flip flops on.)
It is so warm here. Utah was 29 degrees when we left. Chicago was 22 degrees when we left there at 1:30 in the afternoon. I am very thankful to live here at the moment.
My camera bit the dust while we were in Utah so I will have to get a new one so I can post some pictures. I cant wait to share about all the fun and not so fun of our trip.....soon!
